It's all about the rocker this year. What started with a whisper back in 2007 has now become a roar, with every snowboard maker out there producing a version of reverse-camber / banana boards, so what's the fuss all about, how does it work and do I need it in my life? Reverse camber is what's been missing from recreational snowboarding for years. The lift in the nose and taiI gives you all the ollie pop you need, the flattening out of the camber normally sited between your feet allows you to take on some jumps and stomp your landings with an element of forgiveness previously undreamed of, and if you're a once or twice a year holiday rider who likes to party as hard as you snowboard, then rocker was made for you...no more excuses, you can even ride them with a hangover! If you like to ride on hardpack and in the park, the rockered bottom combined with soft flex make it almost impossible to catch an edge, so witha little practise you'll be manualling and buttering like you were doing it all you life. And for the accomplished park rider there are a range of boards available in both options, like the Rome Artifact/Artifact 1985. For the beginner there's a range of rockered/flat bottomed, catch-free solutions out there so you can develop your skills more quickly and with fewer unpleasant surprises. Less time on your backside and more time putting those first important turns together. You'll have as much fun on your final day as you did on your first. If you're a balls to the wall rider who spends weeks on end in the pipe, blasting powder and hitting the park at mach1, reverse camber is probably not for you. Stick to traditional camered boards. They're awesome! They're stiff, poppy, snappy in the turns and go like stink. Stick to what works for you. They're what the professionals ride. If, like us, you want to be having a laugh with your mates as much as improving your riding every day, hitting some park and pow kickers, as well as playing all over the mountain, go with the rockered options..THEY'RE BANANAS!!
